NCERT Study: It is not enough to get good marks in the exam at the end of the year!

This time the report card will be prepared with the opinion of parents and friends NCERT Study: NCERT has directed the schools to prepare their assessment pattern as per all state HPC.

In addition to studies, attention should be paid to sports and social activities. It is not just about getting good marks in annual exams. Everyone is focused on doing well in the end of year exams, students as well as parents are walking the same path. Stuck in traditional school education, students are losing their individuality.

So this time NCERT is another step to increase self-awareness among students. A different type of report card will be created. Keeping this in mind, Parakh, the benchmarking body of NCERT, has developed a Holistic Progress Card (HPC). According to a report in The Indian Express, the HPC will also prepare the report card based on feedback from the students' parents, classmates. The test will look not only at the academic performance of the students but also at the use of their knowledge, social and emotional abilities while studying in the classroom.

How will students get that report card?

Every student has to actively participate in this holistic evaluation of the exam. Report card evaluation will be based on various other aspects including their proficiency in different subjects and interest in learning. The HPC is designed in three distinct phases, the Foundation Phase respectively, in which report cards of first and second class students will be prepared. Entry Phase In this case the report cards of third to fifth class students will be prepared and Mid Phase, in this case the report cards of sixth to eighth class students will be prepared. In addition, the report card will be prepared with the opinions of the students' parents, and their classmates along with the opinions of the students themselves.

What else will be included in the assessment?

The assessment will take into account how much homework the student has done, what he is being taught in class, how much he is learning on his own, and even how long he is studying at home. Even in this digital era, how long the student is using the mobile phone throughout the day, whether that screen time is causing any harm to him or not, also how much responsibility the student's parents have in all these aspects, all will be recorded in the report card.

NCERT has already directed all states to prepare their report card pattern as per HPC. The National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) seeks to make assessment more 'learning-centred'.
